Why people pick a single carport
- The smallest build of the lotFour posts, one beam line and a short run of sheets. It is the kit most likely to be finished in a weekend by two people.
- Fits down the sideNarrow enough to sit in the setback beside most Perth houses, where a double simply will not go.
- Less to digFour footings rather than six, and a lighter beam, so there is less hire gear and less concrete.

Single carport questions
01How wide is a single carport?
Usually 3m to 3.6m, which leaves room to open a door without touching a post or a fence. The kit is cut to the width you actually have, so measure the driveway at its narrowest point.
02Will a single carport fit down the side of my house?
Often, and it is the usual reason people choose one. Measure from the house wall to the fence, and from the ground to the underside of the eave, and send both numbers before anything is cut.
03Can I extend a single carport into a double later?
Not simply. The beam and the footings are sized for the span the kit was cut for, so widening it later means new steel and new footings. If a second bay is likely, it is far cheaper to decide now.
04What length do I need for a ute?
A sedan is comfortable at 5.5m, a dual cab ute usually wants 6m or more, and a roof rack or a canopy changes the height you need to clear. Measure the vehicle and send both numbers.
